Create Rates

The Create Rates option provides a way to create or add new Rate Groups to the system. When the Create Rates option is selected from the Data menu-item of the Admin menu, a Create Rate screen displays.

There are three methods to create or load Rate Groups, one of which should be selected by the associated radio button:

  • Manual: Create Rate Groups
  • Import
  • Clone

Manual: Create Rate Groups

This option is selected by default to create rate groups. There are various fields on the Create Rates pane like Rate Description, Integer Criteria, Rate Activation Date, Rate Expiration Date, Active From Date, Active To Date, and Criteria1 through Criteria10.

When creating rate groups, enter the mandatory fields with valid information and click Create. The Rates pane is displayed below the current pane.

The Rates pane allows the user to enter Rates. All fields in this section are editable. The following columns will be available in the grid for data entry in order from left to right as listed below:

  • Criteria1 through Criteria10 - selected/used during the creation of Rate Group
  • Integer Criteria - The Value of Integer Criteria will be the column header ('Age' in the above sample image)
  • Rate - Contains Rate value for the specified criteria values
  • Action - will allow the user to edit or delete the row

The Save button allows the user to save the entered values in the table grid. Clicking Cancel will prevent the values from being saved.

Import

When the Import radio button is selected, a screen opens..

The Browse button allows the user to browse through their local system to upload the Rate workbook (.xls) in order to create the Rate Group.

The Validate button shall carry any validations that currently exist in the Rules Palette. If workbook with an existing rate group name is uploaded, the Effective Date date is checked such that it does not fall between the Effective Date and Expiry Date of the existing Rate Group. If this validation fails, the system displays an error/warning "Rate Group Name already exists for this Effective Date.” The system also validates all the dated versions of the same rate group (description) should have the same integer criteria and the same criteria 1 through 10.

The Upload Rates button will be available on successful validation of the workbook data. When using the Upload Rates button, if the size of the workbook being uploaded is more than 5MB, a warning message "This may take a while, due to large file size" is displayed.

Clicking on the Cancel button will discard the activity of creating or uploading a Rate Group upon confirmation from the user.

After the Rate Group is imported and created, the Rates pane will be displayed below the current pane.

Clone

When the Clone radio button is selected, user can search Rate Groups via the Rate Group text box and click on the Find button to return the results.

The results are returned in the Rate Group drop-down. Selecting a rate group from the drop-down will display the instances of that rate group for various Effective Dates in a new drop-down below it with its label name being the same as the selected rate group name. Selecting an instance of the rate group should auto-populate the details section below with data from original rate group.

Enter the mandatory fields with valid information. A new field Factor is introduced and placed as illustrated in the image above. The Factor field captures a value that is multiplied to all the Rates within the rate group and the newly calculated rates will be stored for the cloned Rate Group. The value of the Factor field is 1 by default. If no value is entered for Factor, the original rates will be saved with the newly cloned rate group.

Clicking on Create will create the new Rate Group with the rates multiplied with the Factor. It will also validate to check for any duplicate existing records for Rate Group description and the Effective Date and display "Rate Group Name already exists for this Effective Date" error message. It also validates all the dated versions of the same rate group (description) should have the same integer criteria and the same criteria 1 through 10.

Note: Rate Groups with same name and different effective dates can be created provided that all these dated versions of the same rate group have the same integer criteria and the same criteria 1 through 10.

After creation of Rates through any of the above mentioned methods, a Link Rate Group tab is introduced in the Rates pane beside Rates tab. The Link Rate Group tab allows the user to create relationships or to establish associations. When the user click on the Link Rate Group tab, two sections are displayed on screen.

The first section of the screen will allow the user to link Rate Group. The Select Entity drop-down should display values based upon prior configuration. Upon selection of a value, the user can click on the Find button to search against the value selected from the drop-down menu. The search section shall be populated with results for that entity. The search results grid will hold the 'Entity Name' SEARCH RESULTS title. The first column contains a check-box for each of the rows and checking these check-boxes will select that entity for submission to create a relationship. More than one check-box can be selected and submitted to establish a relationship. Select an appropriate value from the Relationship Purpose drop-down. Click on the Save button to create the relationship. If a relationship already exists in the system for the selected Relationship Purpose, the system would display a "Relationship already exists" warning message and ignore the linking. Clicking on Cancel would not create the relationship and refresh the screen.

The second section allows the user to view the already linked entities with the currently selected Rate Group. The first column in the search results grid, Entity displays the entity type code value as result. The second column displays the corresponding entity Name. The third column indicates the Relationship Purpose for that relationship. The Action column lists the commands like the Delete button that allows the user to remove a relationship.
